ALGER – The President and CEO of the Sonatrach Group, Noureddine Daoudi, held two working meetings in Houston, USA, with officials of the US companies Baker Hughes and KBR, on the prospects for cooperation in the fields of energy technology, engineering, innovation and the development of industrial projects, said Friday a communiqué of the group.
These meetings were held as part of the continuation of the working visit to the United States from 12 to 16 October by the CEO of Sonatrach, head of a high-level delegation.
During the meeting with Baker Hughes, discussions focused on innovative technological solutions in the areas of drilling, well construction, production and facility optimization.
Exchanges also addressed applications of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in the hydrocarbon industry, as well as improvements in plant performance, strengthening industrial partnership and location of activities.
As such, Sonatrach recalled that its Preventing Gas Pressure Enhancement Project, Phase III, Stage 2, at the Hassi R’Mel field, is a concrete example of its cooperation with Baker Hughes.
This project was entrusted to a consortium of Baker Hughes, Nuovo Pignone International S.R.L and Tecnimont S.P.A., under a contract for engineering, supply and construction (EPC), signed in May 2024.
This partnership also extends to the two joint subsidiaries ALGESCO and APAC, specialized in services and technological solutions for the energy industry.
The meeting with KBR allowed for an examination of opportunities for cooperation in the implementation of industrial projects, particularly in the upstream activities of the oil and gas sector.
The U.S. company also presented its expertise in clean technologies, ammonia production, integration of artificial intelligence into facility management and improvement of operational excellence.
Present in the Algerian energy sector since the early 1980s, KBR has contributed to the implementation of several major industrial projects, notably in the fields of liquefied natural gas (LNG), hydrocarbon processing and ammonia production.
Through these meetings, Sonatrach intends to consolidate its partnership relations with international players of reference in the energy sector, in order to mobilize the expertise and technologies necessary to develop its activities and to strengthen the performance of the national energy industry, adds the press release.
